Industry: Commercial Construction | Ground-Up Warehouse
Salary Range: $110,000–$125,000 + Fuel Reimbursement + Project Bonus Potential

Position Overview

Our client is a growing commercial general contractor with a strong presence across Texas, specializing in industrial, medical, retail, automotive, and ground-up commercial construction projects.

They are seeking an experienced Traveling Project Manager to oversee two ground-up warehouse / PEMB projects located on a major data center campus in Abilene, TX.

This Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing overall project execution, managing schedules and budgets, coordinating subcontractors and vendors, maintaining client communication, and ensuring successful delivery from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and experienced managing large-scale ground-up commercial projects in fast-paced environments.

The role will primarily support the Abilene project while being based out of the Houston area, making it an ideal opportunity for a Houston-based Project Manager who is open to travel assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from preconstruction through final completion
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, subcontractor coordination, and procurement activities
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, ownership groups, architects, engineers, and field teams
  • Work closely with Superintendents to ensure project milestones and quality standards are achieved
  • Track project costs, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and overall project documentation
  • Coordinate subcontractor agreements, vendor relationships, and material procurement schedules
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve issues impacting schedule or budget
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular reporting to internal leadership and clients
  • Utilize Procore and other construction management software to manage project operations
  • Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards

Required Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of Project Management experience within commercial construction
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience managing ground-up Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB), warehouse, industrial, manufacturing, or large commercial shell construction projects
  • Ground-up commercial construction experience required
  • Experience with warehouse, industrial, PEMB, large commercial shell, or tilt-wall projects strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, budgeting, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders within active construction environments
  • Ability to manage fast-paced projects with accelerated schedules
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to pass background checks and random drug testing requirements

Preferred Skills & Traits

  • Experience managing traveling or remote commercial construction projects strongly preferred
  • Data center or mission-critical project exposure is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with steel erection coordination and PEMB construction highly valued
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple moving parts simultaneously
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to build relationships across teams and clients
  • Resourceful problem solver with the ability to adapt quickly
  • Even-keeled personality with strong communication and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable traveling regularly to support project assignments
  • Long-term mindset and interest in growing with a rapidly expanding contractor
