Job description

The HD Product Manager is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, and feature definition of product categories assigned to them. The role involves working with cross-functional teams and may include marketing, demand planning, engineering, distribution along with P&L responsibilities.
As a Heavy Duty Product Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Conducting comprehensive market analysis for product line needs and competitive position
  • Understand market dynamics and vehicle shifts driving growth opportunities through product positioning and line expansion
  • Take ownership of the management of the SMP Aftermarket HD product line and lead the company to market leadership through industry analysis and identifying market trends.
  • Coordinates the company's efforts in the launching of new products and services.
  • Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing services, manufacturing, customer service, accounting, distribution, and logistics.
  • Conduct analysis of market segments and market participants including OE companies, HD dealers etc. to verify current product lines and coverage is up to date with the needs of our Aftermarket channel partners.
  • Collect and identify the needs of our channel partners regarding programs, marketing, service, pricing etc.
  • Conduct competitor analysis in terms of price analysis and market program analysis, specifically the market demands in terms of the HD aftermarket.
  • Planning and implementation of sales activities for product promotions and sales plan
  • Develop business cases, market and product intelligence to drive key business decisions
  • Be the market expert on his/her product categories to develop overall pricing strategy, targeting price points and unique selling points of assigned products.
  • Manage the release of new products for the aftermarket, including ownership of coverage and profitability
  • Develop and maintain complete product data information consisting of competitive feature benefit review and competitive interchange.
  • Enhance product description and function, product numbers and break down and pricing information and rationale.
  • Analyze new product opportunities and market conditions through trade shows, customer visits and field research.
  • Work closely with Engineering to develop a make vs. buy strategy focused on quality and profitability.
  • Provide Marketing Services with appropriate product features and benefits to assist them in developing advertisements and editorials for trade publications.
  • Provides technical expertise and training to other departments in support of product development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in product management, product marketing, or a related field within the automotive or heavy-duty aftermarket industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop product strategies, analyze market trends, manage product lifecycles, and drive profitable business growth.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and manage multiple priorities.
  • Full-time, on-site position Monday-Friday - with the ability to travel as needed for business purposes.
