Our tailor is responsible for measuring, cutting, and sewing fabrics to create custom habits, albs, and cucullas for the monks of Saint Meinrad and other religious communities. Also responsible for producing monastic interiors for the Abbey Caskets division. This role includes ensuring satisfaction of finished garments/projects as well as identifying new project opportunities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, make, and grade patterns for various garments for Saint Meinrad and other religious communities
  • Create and assemble fabric interiors for Abbey Caskets
  • Meet with clients to confirm measurements, design needs, and desired outcomes
  • Perform fittings, adjustments, and alterations
  • Maintain and clean sewing equipment
  • Manage fabric and supply inventory
  • Help develop new project opportunities

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of 1 year sewing experience
  • Proven experience as a tailor, seamstress, or garment maker
