Fugro is seeking a highly experienced, autonomous, and motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Land Site Screening & Consulting Team in Belgium. This role combines technical expertise, project management, and mentoring of junior engineers within a dynamic and international environment.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will:

  • Lead Business Development : Contribute actively to the growth of our land consultancy services.
  • Manage Projects : Plan, coordinate, and oversee complex geotechnical projects from start to finish.
  • Mentor Junior Engineers : Supervise and support junior team members in their technical and professional development.
  • Provide Technical Expertise : Deliver advanced geotechnical analysis and interpretation for a wide range of engineering challenges.
  • Design Geotechnical Structures : Work on soil improvement, tailing dams, quay walls, retaining walls, and reclamation projects.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines : Advise structural engineers on foundation design, bearing capacity, settlement, and soil pressure.
  • Oversee Field Investigations : Supervise geotechnical site investigations and ensure quality control of soil testing.
  • Ensure Safety Compliance : Follow all company safety procedures and promote a culture of safety.
Your Profile

We are looking for candidates who combine technical excellence with leadership and autonomy. Ideally, you have:

  • Education : Masterโ€™s or PhD in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience : At least 10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering. However, we are open to considering strong profiles with less experience who demonstrate high potential and motivation.
  • Technical Knowledge : Solid understanding of geotechnical practices and markets in Belgium.
  • Languages : Fluent in Dutch or French and English. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Leadership : Proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior staff.
  • Autonomy : Comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
  • Mobility : Willingness to travel regularly within Belgium and occasionally abroad.
