Position: Accountant I
Reports To: Controller
FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARY: First Tactical is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization's financial function. This position offers an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about accounting, financial analysis, and operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare, examine, and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements (as applicable).
• Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting, providing variance analysis and recommendations.
• Collaborate with department heads to track expenses and optimize resource allocation.
• Support external audits by preparing schedules, reports, and documentation.
• Responsible for reconciling certain general ledgers, bank statements, and balance sheet accounts.
• Analyze financial data and managing employee and business expenses.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements for management and tax reporting.
• Supporting the preparation of business tax returns and ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations
Experience/Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required;
• 3+ years of accounting experience preferred;
• Detail oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Strong Excel skills;
• Knowledge of accounting ERP systems (ABS preferred);
• Able to adapt to shifting priorities, embrace new or evolving responsibilities, balance multiple demands from supervisors and peers; and
• Maintains a calm, positive demeanor under pressure.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK CONDITIONS:
• Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Requires repetitive hand movements and fine coordination, including use of a computer keyboard.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds (e.g. office supplies).
