How much do Tableau developers make?

Tableau developers typically earn a median annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $110,000, depending on experience, location, and certifications. Entry-level roles may start lower, while experienced professionals with advanced skills in data visualization and SQL can earn higher salaries. Salaries also vary based on industry and company size.

Is Tableau need coding?

Tableau developers typically do not need extensive coding skills, as the platform offers a drag-and-drop interface for creating visualizations. However, knowledge of SQL and scripting languages like Python or R can enhance data manipulation and advanced analytics capabilities. Basic understanding of these tools can be beneficial but is not always mandatory for entry-level roles.

Are Tableau developers in demand?

Tableau developers are in high demand due to the increasing need for data visualization and business intelligence solutions across industries. Organizations seek professionals skilled in Tableau, data analysis, and dashboard creation to support data-driven decision-making, leading to strong job growth and competitive salaries in this field.

What are Tableau Developers?

Tableau Developers are professionals who specialize in creating, managing, and optimizing data visualizations using Tableau software. They work with data sources to design interactive dashboards and reports that help organizations analyze and interpret complex data. Tableau Developers often collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and ensure that data insights are accessible, actionable, and visually compelling.

Is Tableau still in demand?

Tableau Developer roles remain in demand as organizations seek data visualization and business intelligence skills to analyze complex data. Proficiency in Tableau, along with knowledge of SQL and data modeling, enhances job prospects in this field, which is valued across various industries for decision-making support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Tableau Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tableau Developer, you need strong skills in data analysis, visualization, and proficiency with SQL, often supported by a degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Familiarity with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and certification such as Tableau Desktop Specialist are commonly required, along with experience in data warehousing and ETL processes. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you translate business requirements into actionable, insightful dashboards. These skills ensure the delivery of meaningful, accurate visualizations that drive data-informed decision-making in organizations.

What Does a Tableau Developer Do?

Tableau software collects and translates large amounts of data into easy-to-read, interactive platforms. These platforms enable businesses to analyze and interpret results from various aspects of their company. Tableau developers are specialized programmers who create tailored reports that assist companies in meeting their goals. These programmers understand the importance of the ETL (extract, transform, load) process of transferring data from the primary source to a new location and know how to organize and use that data in productive ways.

What are some common challenges Tableau Developers face when working with large datasets, and how can they address them?

Tableau Developers often encounter performance issues when visualizing large datasets, such as slow dashboard loading times and laggy interactivity. To address these challenges, developers can optimize data extracts, use efficient calculations, and limit the number of visualizations on a single dashboard. Collaborating closely with data engineers to ensure proper data modeling and leveraging Tableau's built-in performance optimization tools are also key strategies. Staying proactive about these challenges helps deliver fast, interactive, and insightful dashboards to stakeholders.

What is the difference between Tableau Developer vs Data Analyst?

AspectTableau DeveloperData Analyst
Primary FocusDesigning and developing Tableau dashboards and visualizationsAnalyzing data sets to identify trends and insights

Agility's commercially deployed humanoids operate alongside teams in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers—tackling physically demanding and repetitive tasks while enabling workers to focus on higher-value work. With industry-leading safety standards and years of proven deployment data, we're pioneering a new era of automation that enhances human potential.

About the Role

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer drives supplier quality strategy for critical hardware and electromechanical supply chains. This role develops supplier quality metrics, qualification methods, audit processes, and development plans to build a reliable, scalable, and high-performing supplier base.

We are based in Salem, OR and also have an office in Fremont, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration.

About the work

  • Audit strategic suppliers quality systems and manufacturing processes to ensure selection, qualification, and ongoing approval against internal quality requirements.
  • Lead part-by-part qualification, PPAP, and FAI through product development, new part introduction, and supplier onboarding.
  • Review and provide feedback on supplier DFM, control plans, inspection plans, and test strategies for PCBA, electromechanical, and box-build assemblies.
  • Qualify and monitor suppliers producing PCBA, conformal-coated boards, cable assemblies, harnesses, connectors, sensors, motors, actuators, and integrated electromechanical subassemblies.
  • Evaluate compliance to relevant electronics and assembly standards, including IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and any applicable customer requirements.
  • Assess supplier process capability for soldering, reflow, wave solder, cleaning, coating, crimping, connection, torqueing, test, and traceability controls.
  • Drive supplier root cause analysis, CAPA, and containment actions for electrical, mechanical, and mixed-technology failures.
  • Establish and maintain supplier quality requirements, including traceability, change control, inspection criteria, and nonconformance escalation.
  • Analyze supplier performance data to identify trends, prevent escapes, and improve delivery, yield, and field reliability.
  • Lead supplier audits and source inspections for incoming complex components and assemblies, including hidden-defect risks such as solder defects, intermittent connections, and harness termination failures.
  • Partner with supply chain, manufacturing, and engineering to remediate supplier issues and implement process improvements that support launch readiness and production stability.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of the QMS with emphasis on supplier quality for hardware, electronics, and electromechanical products.
Key qualities and skills
  • Strong understanding of electromechanical manufacturing processes, quality systems, and industrial engineering principles.
  • Deep knowledge of PCBA fabrication and assembly, electromechanical assembly processes, as SMT, wave solder, rework, cabling, and final test.
  • Expert at GD&T and able to interpret mechanical drawings, PCB assemblies, harness drawings, and interface specifications.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards, supplier process audits, and acceptance criteria for electronic assemblies.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in quality engineering tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to hardware and electronics manufacturing.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to U.S. and foreign suppliers 10-50% of the time.
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline plus 10+ years of relevant Supplier Quality Engineering experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in quality engineering principles, tools, and methodologies for hardware, electronics, and electromechanical products.
  • Extensive experience assessing and qualifying suppliers, performing audits, source inspections, driving RCAs, and implementing CAPA.
  • Strong understanding of QMS development, including supplier-facing policies, SOPs, and control requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of NPI quality requirements at the supplier level within a hardware manufacturing company.
  • Extensive experience with quality tools such as FAI, PPAP, CAPA, 8D, FMEA, and risk-based supplier management.
  • Proficiency with analytical applications such as JMP, Minitab, Tableau, Power BI, and Excel.
  • Strong ability to generate and analyze supplier KPI data, present trends, and influence cross-functional decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a customer-service culture.
