The Financial & Data Analyst supports financial reporting and strategic planning by delivering high-level financial and data analysis that informs executive decision-making. This role evaluates financial performance, operational data, and emerging trends, translating complex information into clear, actionable insights. The financial and data analyst partners with leadership to enhance financial outcomes and strategic initiatives while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of data across the organization.

Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities):

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, performance drivers, and strategic insights.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards, automated reports, and data visualization tools.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics
  • Support budget development, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
  • Assist with internal and external reporting requirements


Data Analysis & Visualization

  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources
  • Develop dashboards, models, and reports to communicate insights clearly
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities using quantitative analysis
  • Extract, validate, and integrate data from financial systems, ERP platforms, and reporting databases.
  • Support forecasting models using historical and predictive data analysis.


Strategic & Operational Support

  • Partner with department leaders to support operational and financial goals
  • Conduct cost-benefit, ROI, and scenario analyses
  • Support business cases, grants, contracts, or investment decisions
  • Provide ad hoc analysis to support leadership initiatives

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Improve reporting efficiency through automation, data transformation, and system enhancements.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and governance across financial reporting processes.
  • Support implementation and optimization of financial systems and tools
  • Partner with finance, IT, and institutional leadership to translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Document processes and maintain analytical models

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Experience working with large datasets and financial data; Advanced spreadsheet and data analysis skills
  • Experience with reporting or visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms)
  • Ability to extract and analyze data from financial systems or databases
