Job description

Location: On-Site, Restaurant

Role Type: Full-Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt) + Tips

The Opportunity

El Moro is bringing its iconic, 90-year-old Mexican legacy to the US, and we are looking for a Team Lead to be the pace-setter of our restaurant.

Let’s be clear: this is not just a standard shift supervisor role. This is a management-in-training position. We are actively looking for our next generation of Assistant General Managers (AGMs). While our current GMs and AGMs focus on the macro-business, you will be in the trenches—running the floor, deploying the team, and ensuring every single guest experiences our Siempre Positivos hospitality. If you are hungry to learn how a high-volume restaurant actually runs and want a clear path to career growth, this is your home.

What You Will Do (The Mission)

    1. Run the Floor (The Pace-Setter)

You are the heartbeat of the shift. You will deploy the team, manage break schedules, execute flawless opening/closing checklists, and step in to handle guest concerns with empathy. When the line is out the door, you keep the team calm, focused, and smiling.

    2. Master an "Area of Ownership" (The Future AGM)

To prepare you for the next level, you won't just run shifts—you will learn the administrative side of the business. You will be assigned ONE of the following specialty tracks to own and master:

Training & Hospitality Lead: Own the Day 1-5 onboarding experience, coach the team on the "Passionate Upsell," and help manage our online guest reviews.

Inventory & Supply Lead: Become the guardian of the stockroom. Run weekly counts, manage FIFO rotation, and keep the prep line perfectly stocked.

Scheduling & Admin Lead: Learn the art of labor management. Support the GM in drafting the weekly schedule, managing shift-swaps, and preventing meal-break violations.

    3. Protect the Standard

You are the first line of defense. You ensure the dining room is spotless, uniforms are sharp, and every churro leaving the kitchen meets our strict Siempre Intachable (Always Impeccable) standard of safety and quality.

Who You Are

The Pace-Setter: You work with urgency and purpose. When the team sees you moving fast and with a great attitude, they naturally follow your lead.

The Peer-to-Peer Leader: You know how to transition from being a "peer" to being a "leader," holding your teammates accountable firmly but respectfully.

Always Advancing: You crave responsibility. You don't just want to tell people what to do; you want to learn the why behind the business.

What You Bring to the Table

Experience: 1-2+ years in a high-volume café, restaurant, or hospitality environment.

Leadership: At least 6 months of experience training others, acting as a key-holder, or running shifts.

Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred to communicate effectively with our entire team and guest base.

Certifications: Valid California Food Handler Card (ServSafe Manager Certification is a huge plus!).

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly for an 8-hour shift, and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.

Flexibility: Availability to work a mix of opening, mid, and closing shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Why El Moro?

We believe in Siempre Avanzando (Always Advancing). We are deeply committed to your growth, offering hands-on training to build your leadership and administrative skills so you are fully prepared to step up as our company expands.

Ready to lead the shift and build your career? Apply today and let's grow together.
