About the Team
The System Test team at Nutanix is dedicated to ensuring the quality and reliability of our products through comprehensive test planning, design, and execution. Based in Durham, North Carolina, the team fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation, where team members leverage their broad product knowledge to influence design and instill a quality-first mindset within the development practices. The mission of the team is to automate complex tests that simulate customer environments, ensuring performance, scalability, and overall product excellence in areas such as Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
You will report to the Senior Manager of Engineering, who is known for a supportive and empowering leadership style that encourages team members to take initiative and develop their skills.
This position does not require any travel, allowing you to focus on enhancing the testing framework and contributing to the team's goals without the need for off-site commitments.
Your Role
  • Conduct manual testing for assigned features to ensure functionality and usability.
  • Develop and execute automated tests using Python based on manually tested features.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and tools in Python.
  • Collaborate with the development team to analyze and resolve root causes of product failures.
  • Triage failures and report issues in test automation code or the product.
  • Engage in test design activities, creating test cases that mimic customer scenarios.
  • Utilize version control systems to manage code and test scripts effectively.
  • Enhance existing automation frameworks to increase efficiency and reduce maintenance efforts.

What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science
  • Up to 3 years of experience in software testing or automation roles
  • Proficiency in Python for test automation and scripting.
  • Strong debugging capabilities and solid understanding of object-oriented design principles.
  • Experience with system software such as storage solutions, file systems, databases, operating systems, hypervisors, and networking components.
  • Familiarity with platforms like VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as GIT, build management tools and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins.
  • Ability to develop custom scripts and tools to aid development and troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of HTTP/S, JavaScript, and JSON.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery and backup technologies is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools and their application in test automation, code generation, and quality engineering workflows is a plus

Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. For most roles, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 3 days per week, however certain roles and/or teams may require more frequent in-office presence. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $100,000 and USD $200,400 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
