About JBNC

At John Boner Neighborhood Centers, we work alongside our neighbors on Indianapolis’s Near Eastside to build a thriving, connected community. Our team provides wrap-around support — from financial coaching and career training to youth programs, affordable housing, and wellness services — that empowers individuals and families to reach their goals.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a strategic and mission-driven Chief Systems Officer (CSO) to lead JBNC’s enterprise systems and data strategy. As a key member of the executive leadership team, this role sits at the intersection of technology, data, and organizational impact.

The CSO will ensure our systems are integrated, secure, and effectively used to support decision-making and community outcomes. This leader will drive the development of a unified data ecosystem, champion organization-wide adoption of systems, and build a culture where data is trusted, accessible, and actionable.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead JBNC’s enterprise systems and data strategy, aligning technology with mission and organizational priorities
  • Oversee governance, selection, and lifecycle management of all systems and software platforms
  • Design and steward a unified data architecture, including ownership of the organization’s Database of Record (DoR)
  • Ensure strong data governance, quality, privacy, and compliance across all systems
  • Partner with executive and program leaders to ensure systems support service delivery and community impact
  • Lead organization-wide change management efforts to drive system adoption and staff engagement
  • Build data literacy across the organization, empowering teams to use data in decision-making
  • Oversee integrations, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity practices, and system architecture standards
  • Manage system budgets, vendor relationships, and contracts
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions, including AI, to improve efficiency and impact

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in systems, data strategy, or digital transformation
  • Strong experience with systems architecture, integrations (APIs), and cloud-based platforms
  • Deep understanding of data governance, analytics, and system-driven decision-making
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale change management and system adoption efforts
  • Experience developing governance structures and managing system lifecycles
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights
  • Strong commitment to ethical data use, equity, and community impact

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit, public sector, or mission-driven organizations
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., FERPA, data privacy regulations)
  • Experience implementing enterprise-level systems (CRM, ERP, HRIS, etc.)
  • Exposure to or leadership in AI strategy and emerging technologies

Compensation & Benefits

JBNC offers a competitive and supportive benefits package, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance at no cost to employees
  • Telehealth and mental health services
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off including holidays (with a full week off at year end)
  • Professional development and leadership growth opportunities
  • Access to discounted Fitness Zone membership and employee engagement initiatives

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • On-site at John Boner Neighborhood Centers
  • Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, with flexibility based on organizational needs

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, in accordance with applicable laws
