Job description

Role Overview
  • Reporting Line: Human Resources, but with strong partnerships with our ERP and IT teams
  • Focus: Technical Configuration, Integration Management, and Business Process Optimization
  • Key Systems: UKG Pro (Core), Businessolver, Milliman (Benefits), Command Alkon TrackIt (Time), IFS Cloud (ERP), myimi (Intranet), Gensuite (EHS), Novarra (KPA Flex), Trimble Viewpoint

Key Responsibilities
1. System Architecture & Administration
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for UKG Pro, overseeing configuration, security roles, and business process mapping.
  • Lead the deployment of new modules and the rollout of biannual UKG feature releases.
  • Maintain data integrity through regular audits and the development of sophisticated SQL-based or BI reports.

2. Integration & Middleware Management
  • Technology Roadmap & Evaluation: Act as the lead technical advisor for the selection and implementation of future HR or Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) systems, ensuring all new software aligns with the existing UKG Pro and IFS Cloud architecture.
  • Scalability Planning: Proactively evaluate current system limitations and research emerging integration tools or middleware to support the company's growth and evolving compliance requirements.
  • Vendor Management: Partner with third-party vendors to conduct "Proof of Concept" (POC) testing for new modules, ensuring high standards for data synchronization and user experience before full-scale rollout.
  • BusinessSolver: Own the API/EDI file exchange between UKG Pro and BusinessSolver to ensure seamless benefit enrollment and payroll deductions.
  • Command Alkon TrackIt: Manage the complex synchronization of truck driver timekeeping data into UKG Pro for payroll processing, and troubleshoot latency or data mismatches.
  • IFS Cloud ERP: Facilitate the downstream flow of employee data and labor costing from UKG Pro into IFS Cloud or related systems, ensuring finance and project accounting teams have real-time visibility.
  • Myimi (intranet): Sustain and develop integrations to enable specialized internal applications
  • Trimble Vista & HCSS: Manage the various integrations to enable accurate information sharing between UKG, Trimble Vista, and IFS Job Rate Management to sustain HCSS Heavy Bid and Heavy Job operational needs for our construction businesses.

3. Strategic, Human-Centric, Business Partnership
  • Techno-Functional lead: translate complex business requirements from HR, Payroll, Benefits, Shared Services, and Operations into technical specifications.
  • Project Management: interface with common project management frameworks, such as Waterfall or Agile, while collaborating with operations and business support peers
  • Process Design: Design and document automated workflows to eliminate manual data entry and reduce manual or redundant HR processes.
  • Employee Experience (EX) Design: Configure UKG Pro workflows (Hire to Retire processes) to be intuitive and "mobile-first," specifically supporting our field-based truck drivers and construction crews.
  • Culture via Technology: Optimize UKG's communication and engagement tools to reinforce company culture, engage employees, and aid in improved retention.
  • Empathetic Troubleshooting: Approach complex system issues with the understanding that a data error directly impacts an employee's paycheck or healthcare access; therefore, fixing the root cause of the issue is the only way to sustain employee trust
  • Gatekeeper of Sensitive Data: Maintain the highest level of confidentiality while managing vast amounts of PII (Personally Identifiable Information), HIPAA-protected benefit data, and sensitive compensation structures.
  • Security Administration: Design and audit UKG Pro Role-Based Permissions (RBP) to ensure users have the minimum necessary access required for their roles, protecting the organization from internal data breaches.
  • Ethical Data Handling: Exercise impeccable judgment and discretion, recognizing that the role's high-level system visibility requires a "privacy-by-design" mindset in every report created and every integration built.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure all system configurations and data transfers remain compliant with labor laws and data privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and SOC2.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: 5-7+ years of hands-on experience with UKG Pro (formerly UltiPro) is required.
  • Human Element:

    • A demonstrated history of designing systems with the end-user in mind; you view technology as a tool for empowerment, not just a set of rules.
    • The ability to document systems integrations and workflows to aid in system and process sustainability, troubleshooting, and end-user training.

  • Technical and Integration Proficiency:

    • Proven track record of managing integrations between HCM platforms and ERPs (specifically, IFS Cloud) or specialized timekeeping tools (TrackIt).
    • Proficiency in UKG Business Intelligence (Cognos) and advanced Excel.
    • Experience with Web Services, APIs, ETL, or XML/XSLT is highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with Benefit Carrier Connections (EDI) and BusinessSolver or similar benefit administration system workflows.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field.

Why This Role?
This isn't a "back-office" data entry job. You will be the engine behind our operational efficiency. Because you sit at the intersection of people, technology, and our operations, your work directly impacts the accuracy of our labor costing and the ease of our employees' experience, from the driver's seat to the main office.
