Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a Telecommunications and Electronic Security Systems Engineering Intern for a new position based in our Markham / Mississauga, ON, Canada office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • This is a co-op experience, designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. 
  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study. Example of potential responsibilities include:
    • Support the design and documentation of telecommunication, digital systems, and related infrastructure projects.
    • Assist in the development and modification of engineering drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit
    • Assist with site investigations, field reviews, and data collection activities as required.
    • Support preparation of technical reports, specifications, drawings, and other project deliverables
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and must have completed at least 3 years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.  Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Autodesk drafting software such as AutoCAD and Revit is strongly preferred
  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Telecommunications, Systems, or a related Engineering discipline
  • Previous Internship experience within the built environment, consulting engineering, construction, or infrastructure sectors is considered an asset.
  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently while engaging effectively with team members to achieve project goals.
  • Good communication, technical writing, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office software
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Interest in telecommunications systems, security systems, digital infrastructure, transit systems, or related technologies
