  • Job Summary: We're looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to help build the technology that enables our communities, from small gatherings to our largest events. At The Pokémon Company International (TPCi), technology plays a critical role in creating experiences that connect millions of Pokémon fans around the world. In this role, you'll design, develop, and support scalable software solutions while partnering closely with product, design, and engineering teams. You'll tackle complex technical challenges, contribute to architectural discussions and  decisions, and help advance engineering best practices. Through strong technical execution and collaboration, you'll play a key role in delivering reliable, innovative, and engaging experiences for the global Pokémon community.

What you’ll do  

Software Development & Technical Execution 

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality software solutions and services.
  • Lead the implementation of complex features and technical initiatives from design through production.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code while adhering to engineering best practices and quality standards.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving software quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions. 

Technical Collaboration & Problem Solving 

  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Contribute to technical design discussions and help evaluate architecture, implementation approaches, and tradeoffs.
  • Break down complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Support system improvements that enhance performance, maintainability, security, and operational excellence.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development processes, tooling, and team efficiency.

What you’ll bring  

Experience & Impact 

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant professional experience or a demonstrated equivalent level of expertise.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience delivering software solutions through the full development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems and drive work to completion.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
  • Proven ability to mentor and guide other engineers through technical leadership and knowledge sharing. 

Technical Expertise 

  • Experience with full stack development patterns and technologies such as React, RESTful design patterns, infrastructure as code, Postgres, NoSQL, and containerized and serverless architectures.
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, system design fundamentals, and modern engineering practices.
  • Experience evaluating technical solutions and contributing to architectural and design discussions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and implement scalable, sustainable solutions.

Base Salary Range: For this role, new hires generally start between $117,485 - $156,318 per year. The full range is $117,485 - $211,605 per year. This range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. The final base salary is directly related to the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience uniquely.
