Job description

Description
IS4S is seeking a disciplined and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer with a minimum of three years of professional experience to support the development of advanced defense technologies. This role is responsible for the full-spectrum design, integration, and validation of electrical systems, specifically focusing on PWA/CCA development and ruggedized harness design for Department of Defense (DoD) applications. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of theoretical design expertise and a "hands-on" approach to hardware prototyping and system-level troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Electronic Hardware Design: Lead the design, schematic capture, and layout of high-reliability Printed Wiring Assemblies (PWA) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA).
  • Interconnect System Development: Engineer complex cable and wire harness architectures tailored for harsh military environments, ensuring compliance with MIL-STD requirements.
  • Prototype Validation: Execute the assembly, testing, and debugging of initial proof-of-concept hardware. This includes manual board-level rework and functional bench testing.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with mechanical and software engineering teams to ensure seamless electrical integration within larger platform architectures.
  • Technical Documentation: Generate comprehensive engineering documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOMs), wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and test reports.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet stringent DoD standards for EMI/EMC (e.g., MIL-STD-461) and environmental survivability (e.g., MIL-STD-810).

Technical Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical design, specifically within the defense, aerospace, or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Circuit Design: Proficiency in analog and digital circuit design, component selection, and power distribution.
  • Harness Design: Demonstrated experience in designing ruggedized interconnects, including connector selection (e.g., D38999 series) and EMI shielding techniques.
  • Tools: Advanced proficiency in EDA software (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics) and harness design suites.
  • Laboratory Skills: Expert-level competence with standard diagnostic equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and DMMs.
