Job description

Dark Wolf is looking for a Senior System Test Engineer to plan, develop, and execute end-to-end testing for a hybrid cloud digital system supporting mission applications. A successful candidate will serve as a technical leader, architecting scalable test suites using modern test automation frameworks while executing system testing, security controls validation, and application-layer verification across Kubernetes environments. This position requires onsite support at Hill AFB in Ogden, UT. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Planning, developing, and executing end-to-end (E2E) testing across a hybrid cloud digital system, including infrastructure, API integrations, security controls, and application-layer functionality.
  • Architecting, developing, and maintaining scalable automated test suites across web applications and integrated platforms using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript or Python).
  • Validating that systems meet approved functional, performance, reliability, security, and operational readiness requirements.
  • Integrating automated test pipelines into continuous delivery workflows (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) to validate builds automatically.
  • Managing containerized test execution environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to ensure reliable, reproducible test runs across development and staging environments.
  • Identifying, isolating, and logging complex system defects, managing defect lifecycles, and conducting root-cause analysis in collaboration with development teams.
  • Producing objective test evidence, execution metrics, and readiness assessments to support release and operational decision-making.
  • Adhering to strict security protocols, DoD compliance standards, and software QA best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, system testing, or SDET roles.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise building, architecting, and scaling modern test automation frameworks using Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium (with a strong preference for Playwright).
  • Strong proficiency in programming and scripting languages, including TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems administration, web application architectures, hybrid cloud concepts, and API testing methodologies.
  • Proven proficiency with Agile software development, user interface analysis, defect management, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical defects, QA metrics, test evidence, and testing strategies to cross-functional teams.
  • US Citizenship and an active Top Secret security clearance required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience with CI/CD concepts and methodologies, including building and maintaining automated test pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working with Kubernetes platforms (e.g., Rancher, EKS) and containerization technologies (Docker) for test execution and application deployment.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) for automated environment provisioning and test data seeding.
  • Prior experience transitioning legacy test suites (e.g., Selenium, Cypress) to Playwright.
  • Hands-on experience testing hybrid cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with performance/load testing tools (e.g., k6, JMeter) and database verification (SQL/NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with security scanning, vulnerability management tools, and cybersecurity control validation.
  • Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Security+).

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000.00 - $170,000.00, commensurate on experience and technical skillset.

We are strictly looking for direct, full-time W2 employees. We do not engage with third-party staffing agencies, C2C, or 1099 independent contractors for this role.
