Job description

Position Summary and Responsibilities: 

The Assistant Inventory Control Manager assists the Inventory Control Manager in overseeing inventory control operations, maintaining accurate inventory levels, managing inventory personnel, and ensuring compliance with company, food safety, FDA, and USDA guidelines.

  • Oversee daily inventory control and returns processes to ensure inventory accuracy and product availability.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between system and physical inventory counts.
  • Schedule and monitor cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Analyze inventory reports and trends to improve accuracy, efficiency, and inventory levels.
  • Monitor dead, damaged, and returned inventory and coordinate vendor returns.
  • Assist with recalls, product quality concerns, and food safety issues.
  • Work with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Operations, Returns, and Food Safety to resolve inventory-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and help reduce shrink and inventory variances.
  • Assist with month-end inventory activities, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Ensure products are properly coded, located, and slotted within the warehouse.
  • Support compliance with company inventory control procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and support Inventory Control and Returns Associates.
  • Schedule associates, monitor attendance, approve payroll, and assist with performance management.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, and employee development.
  • Provide coaching and feedback while promoting a professional and ethical work environment.
  • Assist the Inventory Control Manager with departmental planning and process improvements.

Education and/ or Work Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of inventory control experience required.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Food service or distribution experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of FDA and USDA guidelines preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with warehouse RF systems/scanners preferred.
  • Strong data entry and 10-key skills.
  • Ability to learn and use company-specific systems and applications.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused and professional.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
