Position Summary

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, this position is responsible for Managing all Payroll and HRIS activities required to process payroll and support HRIS related activities for all BioUrja Group companies. Oversee and supervise the organization's payroll and HRIS functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. Duties include report writing, problem solving, system testing, and answering Payroll and/or HRIS inquiries. This position will also be responsible for the development of overall payroll and HRIS procedures by recommending improvements or changes when deemed necessary for greater efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the processing of Weekly, Bi-weekly, Semi-Monthly, and Monthly Payrolls (requires knowledge of opening required SITW/SUI account to process payroll).
  • Responsible for accurately completing all audits on benefit, worker’s compensation, payroll and other audits as necessary.
  • Provide reports upon request, payroll reporting, monthly census, and any ad hoc reports.
  • Respond to Verifications of employments, Interrogatories, and any employee queries.
  • Assist with direct deposit and/or check-card accounts.
  • Complete Quarterly SUI/SITW filings, and address any queries received from federal and state tax and payroll related agencies.
  • Maintain a high level of security and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Hire, train, and oversee subordinate staff in the department.
  • Oversee the scheduling, assignments, and the daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Oversees and maintains optimal function of the HRIS, which may include installation, customization, development, maintenance, and upgrade to applications, systems, and modules.
  • Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HRIS users.
  • Manages permissions, access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings for HRIS users.
  • Programs custom functions and documentation such as automated queries, filters, macros, and reports.
  • Compiles or assists with the acquisition of complex data reports, summaries, and logs for senior executives and HR staff.
  • Serves as lead representative and liaison between HR, information services, external vendors, and other stakeholders for HRIS design and implementation projects.
  • Ensures system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in HRIS providers, vendors, and technology.
  • Provide support of other Payroll and HRIS duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of payroll experience – knowledge of Paylocity.
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Business (or related experience).
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Familiarity with human resource policies and procedures to ensure the HRIS meets organizational needs and goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Supervisory and leadership skills a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision to accomplish the goals and tasks of the department.
  • Exercise confidentiality concerning the affairs of the business.
  • Excelling time management, initiative and productivity skills.
