Job Number: R0246093 System Safety Engineer, Senior The Opportunity: Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your technical skills with big-picture thinking to make an impact in System Safety? Our team supports senior-level DoD and Service personnel with system safety implementation and oversight for DoD system programs. You'll leverage your specialized knowledge and expertise in system safety, including applying scientific and engineering principles, criteria, and techniques to identify and assess system safety hazards and inform the implementation of mitigations to reduce warfighter risk. As a system safety engineer (SSE) on our team, you'll enjoy a dynamic team environment of customer and contractor staff while executing comprehensive system safety programs or individual tasks on a variety of space systems. You will be familiar with typical work products, including System Safety Program Plans (SSPP), a variety of analyses, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem and System Hazard Analysis (SHA/SSHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) analysis, Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), and test report evaluations. You'll analyze data, develop written deliverables, assist with the presentation of results, and assist with the review of client system safety artifacts to verify compliance with requirements, policy, and guidance documents. You'll conduct these tasks following established plans and quality standards and the freedom to improve processes and advance the discipline of system safety. Expectations are the Staff SSE can work independently with minimal oversight, based on professional experience and educational background, while helping mentor and train early career SSEs in the System Safety discipline. What You Will Be Doing * Support the program by developing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, system safety risk assessment and mitigation.
* Analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
* Prepare and deliver presentations at technical reviews and customer briefings.
* Flow down system safety requirements and verify implementation.
* Assist in requirements development and verification.
* Reviews models, specifications, technical documentation, and design changes for impacts to system safety.
* Support customer and test and operational range requirements
* Participate in the development of test activities to ensure safety requirements are satisfied.
* Prepare technical documentation and presentation material to support various independent safety board meetings to gain approval on system design.
* Participate in mishap investigations and assist in identification of causes and corrective actions. Join us. The world can't wait. You Have: * 10+ years of experience with Engineering, System Test and Evaluation, or Safety Programs on Space or Missile Defense system product development
* Experience in the conduct of MIL-STD-882E safety analyses or systems safety program implementation
* Experience implementing a Software Safety Program in accordance with AOP-52
* Experience in developing and evaluating system safety requirements
* Experience Interacting in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers
* Ability to make formal presentations to large groups
* Secret clearance
* Bachelor's degree in a Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) field Nice If You Have: * Experience with Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB), or Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP)
* Experience with digital engineering, machine learning and artificial intelligence, software development, human factors engineering, or fault tree analysis
* Ability to perform safety-related tasks with little direction
* Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy
* Ability to learn and work with System Safety specific tools
* Possession of strong written and oral communication skills
* Top Secret clearance
* Master's degree in a STEM field

The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD).
