Job description

Senior Electrical EngineerPosition Description

This Electrical Engineering position involves working with Project Managers in developing energy efficient, sustainable, and reliable engineering system concepts for projects. This position has a demonstrated capability to conduct analyses of existing systems and develop engineering solutions. Senior engineers consult with the client to determine needs, wants, and budgets while determining the functional requirements of new or renovated systems. Engineers schedule projects and related workloads and represent Cushing Terrell in project meetings and assist in strategy meetings. This position checks drawings and prepares feedback for project team(s), directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings, and edits or writes specifications including coordination with outside consultants involved in the project.

Position Salary Range*

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 to $117,000 annually.

Required Qualifications**
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of job-related experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain by comity) in the state of the hiring Cushing Terrell office
  • Advanced knowledge of Autodesk MEP Revit, Auto CAD, Bluebeam, Outlook, Microsoft Office
  • Proven record of technical competence in areas of electrical system design including but not limited to: lighting systems and controls, power distribution systems including main distribution and separately derived systems, service calculations, arc fault, short circuit, and life safety analysis, with applicable codes and regulations
  • Possess the skill set to prepare fee proposals and negotiate contracts
  • Possess the necessary skill sets to prepare studies and reports
  • Ability to administer construction contracts and conduct ‘on-site’ observation of work during construction to monitor plan compliance, including administration and review of addendums, substitutions, change orders, and submittals

Position Responsibilities***
  • Maintain a working knowledge of process and issues affecting productivity and quality of contract documents and reports
  • Prepare drawings, details, specification, and contract documents for contractors
  • Act as Engineer-in-responsible-charge, including making technical decisions in their respective field, reviewing, stamping, and signing construction documents
  • Prepare life cycle cost comparisons for system selection and represent the client in obtaining bids, and awarding construction contracts
  • Develop positive external and internal client relationships and participate in project interviews for firm-wide projects
  • Conduct project closeout and quality measurement investigation
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
  • Additional responsibilities may include interviewing and training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining team members, addressing complaints, and resolving problems
  • Other duties as assigned
