Join our dynamic team as an Environmental Control and Life Support System Air Team - Project Engineer and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Life Support and Systems Projects section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

We are seeking someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to owning their work, and providing superior quality. Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 2-5 years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Possible straight time overtime and a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off) **
Responsibilities
As an Environmental Control and Life Support System Air Team - Project Engineer you will:
  • Develop project documentation and maintaining status of drawings, and procurements.
  • Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed
  • Work with ECLSS Air Team to ensure the test strategy will provide sufficient information on the system performance and capabilities
  • Inspect hardware upon receipt to verify match with fabrication drawing/models
  • Test rig and equipment buildup as needed
  • Perform all system testing
  • Design and develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs) for life support systems.
  • Perform pressure system calculations to verify system safety and ensure optimal function.
  • Develop and present design/test readiness reviews.
  • Develop test plan and test reports
  • Schedule testing with test facilities
  • Work with the ECLSS Air Team to develop a test schedule
  • Work with procurement personnel and vendors to order and secure procurements
  • Gather data analysis of test results
  • Assist project management with configuration control of project documentation
  • Development of test procedures including working with various organizations across JSC for flight certification of hardware.
  • Develop presentations.
  • Develop logistics, manufacturing and procurement plan
  • Work in a team environment and report to the project manager to provide status on progress and issues and for support.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
Required
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or related area
  • Experience with the development of project planning documents
  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware systems
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

Preferred
  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
  • Familiarity with Peroxide Generation Unit
  • Prior experience working in a system development project/program
  • Experience with NASA/JSC Class I flight hardware process and certification.
  • Flight demo experience
  • Familiarity with feasibility assessments and trade studies
  • Self-motivated problem-solver.
  • Team player who is adaptable to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
