Job description

The Supply Chain & Operations Planning Manager supports the Badger mission by driving end-to-end supply chain visibility, demand planning, production planning, and inventory optimization across our product lines. This role oversees a team of supply chain and planning professionals and collaborates cross-functionally with procurement, production, sales, and finance to ensure the right products are available at the right time, while maintaining the integrity of our mission & sustainability sourcing standards. The Supply Chain & Operations Planning Manager is a power user of our ERP system and champions data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Directly manage a team supply chain and planning professionals, including setting clear goals, prioritizing projects, providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback, and conducting new hire and alignment building check-ins.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration within the team.
  • Identify training and development opportunities to grow team capabilities in planning tools, ERP proficiency, and industry knowledge.
  • Set direction, define roles, responsibilities, and workflows as the team scales alongside the business.
  • Maintain a safe and legal working environment, immediately addressing or escalating any safety concerns, unethical, or illegal behavior.

Demand Planning & Forecasting

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of rolling demand forecasts (monthly, quarterly, annual) by SKU, channel, and region using statistical models and market intelligence
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) to incorporate promotional calendars, new product launches, and seasonal trends into forecast models.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and continuously refine planning assumptions.
  • Coordinate with the Sales & Operations planning process, facilitating meetings across departments to convert the sales forecast into materials and production planning.

Supply Chain Management

  • Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations from a planning and operational continuity standpoint, including raw material availability, contract manufacturing coordination, inbound logistics, and finished goods inventory.
  • Ensure supply chain execution complies with organic and sustainability sourcing standards (USDA Organic, etc.), partnering with the Purchasing & Sourcing Manager and Quality team who own supplier qualification and ongoing compliance oversight.
  • Develop and maintain supply chain performance KPIs and contingency planning strategies, using supplier performance data in collaboration with the Purchasing & Sourcing Manager to identify risks and drive mitigation plans.
  • Work with the Purchasing team to establish and guide pricing negotiations, lead times, and contract terms with suppliers and logistics partners.

Production Planning

  • Direct the development and maintenance of master production schedules (MPS) aligned with demand forecasts, available raw material inventory, and contract manufacturer capacity, working with the Production Scheduler.
  • Translate finished goods demand into detailed material requirements using Syspro's MRP/MPS modules, ensuring timely release of purchase orders and work orders.
  • Coordinate longer-term production scheduling with co-manufacturers and in-house operations teams, balancing run efficiency with flexibility for short-lead promotional needs.
  • Working with Quality and Operations, monitor production output, yield variances, and schedule adherence; identify root causes for deviations and drive corrective actions.
  • Manage new product introduction (NPI) timelines from a production readiness standpoint, including BOM setup, trial runs, and initial inventory builds working closely with RDI and Sales.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure production schedules accommodate required hold periods, testing windows, and organic certification documentation.

Syspro ERP Partnership & Optimization

  • Serve as the supply chain and operations subject matter expert for Syspro, translating business needs into system requirements and serving as the primary contact to the ERP & Operations Systems Administrator for supply chain-related system work.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of supply chain master data in Syspro (BOMs, item masters, supplier records), partnering with the ERP & Operations Systems Administrator to implement and maintain those records.
  • Define business requirements for supply chain reports, dashboards, and workflows in Syspro, and partner with the ERP & Operations Systems Administrator to develop and maintain them.

Inventory Management

  • Own the inventory management strategy across all SKUs, setting policies for service levels, working capital efficiency, and inventory health.
  • Establish and maintain reorder points, safety stock parameters, and slow-moving/obsolete inventory reserves; review and update these parameters regularly in response to demand or supply changes.
  • Coordinate with Inventory Coordinator and Accounting to execute cycle count programs and physical inventory reconciliation.
  • Hold accountability for overall inventory accuracy and integrity, using reporting from the Inventory Coordinator to identify systemic issues and drive improvements.
  • Define and maintain shelf-life and lot traceability policies and system requirements for organic and perishable raw materials in Syspro.
  • Partner with the Inventory Coordinator to ensure those policies are consistently executed and review escalated disposition decisions for short-dated or expired goods where financial or compliance impact is significant.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Define, own, and distribute weekly/monthly supply chain performance reports including fill rates, on-time delivery, inventory turns, and forecast accuracy.
  • Identify supply chain risks and communicate proactively to senior team members with recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Support financial planning processes with inventory projections and cost-of-goods modeling.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Pay starting at $80,000; salary is commensurate to experience.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related experience.
  • 6+ years of progressive supply chain, planning, or operations experience, with at least 3 years in a people management role overseeing a team of 3 or more.
  • Proven experience in production planning, master scheduling, or manufacturing operations, ideally in a skincare, cosmetics, or food & beverage environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Syspro ERP (MRP/MPS, procurement, inventory, manufacturing, or supply chain modules) strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the beauty, personal care, or food & beverage industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with organic certification supply chain requirements (USDA Organic, COSMOS, NSF, etc.) preferred.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification (or in progress) preferred.
  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) or ERP-adjacent analytics platforms preferred.
  • Background working with contract manufacturers and/or co-packers preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in demand forecasting methodologies and S&OP processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills; comfort with data analysis and building models from scratch.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple suppliers and logistics partners simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate data into actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
