Job Description

At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta's Product Safety Team is seeking a Senior Human Safety Toxicologist in Greensboro, NC. This role will provide expertise in Toxicology for developing new agricultural technology and maintaining existing products. They will support critical project decisions and use the best scientific approaches to enable Business and Regulatory success in NA and globally.

Accountabilities:

  • Toxicology and Regulatory Excellence:
    • Evaluate study designs and protocols for comprehensive toxicology studies.
    • Interpret complex toxicological data to support safety assessments or establish safety thresholds for crop protection products.
    • Develop and author waivers and position papers based on scientific findings.
    • Author and review toxicology sections of global registration submissions.
    • Interpret regulatory decisions and peer-reviewed articles to inform and guide safety assessments.
    • Navigate and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements across regions.

  • Technical Consultation:
    • Provide expert toxicology guidance to R&D, regulatory, and business teams.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert in a key technical area in toxicology.
    • Support peers through technical coaching and collaboration.

  • Strategic Development:
    • Create and implement safety assessment strategies for product development.
    • Identify data gaps and propose solutions for registration requirements.
    • Contribute to technical advocacy, strategic science, and product stewardship initiatives.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Represent the company in regulatory agency meetings and industry forums.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key external partners.
    • Collaborate with global teams on complex R&D projects.
Qualifications

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without requiring current or future sponsorship (which also includes OPT/CPT and H-1B visas).

Required:

  • PhD or Masters degree in Toxicology, Biological Sciences, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in toxicology or biological science.
  • In-depth technical knowledge in toxicology and preferably in Toxicokinetics (TK).
  • Experience with application of toxicology knowledge to product development.
  • Excellence in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in North America and globally.
  • Proven track record in regulatory submissions.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.

Desired:

  • Experience in agrochemical industry.
  • Knowledge of GLP requirements.
  • Experience with regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of data science, mechanistic modeling, or predictive approaches.
