6+ Years experience administering Sybase databases running REDHAT LINUX on physical or virtual servers Proven track record of administering databases running ASE 16Strong experience with Rep Server and other Sybase features and tools Strong experience with database performance testing and tuning, user configuration, security and support processes Delivering required database functionality that meets project requirements on or before defined due date
Responsibilities:
Building new, or upgrading / patching existing databases and associated software in accordance with vendor best practices;Delivering required database functionality that meets project requirements on or before defined due date; Working with Sybase Engineers and our service provider to deliver a highly available, resilient and performant database environment; Investigating, troubleshooting and resolving database incidents/problems escalated to the level 3 / Engineering team; Identifying opportunities for performance, availability/resiliency and process improvements; Ensuring Sybase database environment is secure, providing recommendations for improving database security and implementing approved security improvements;Consulting with IT personnel to resolve database related questions and/or concerns;Assisting other infrastructure teams in completing upgrade and improvement tasks and projects;Coordinating downtime with application teams and system engineers to implement approved changes;Interfacing with vendor SAP to resolve operational issues or questions;Following established IT / DBA policies and procedures.
