Job description

SUMMARY:

The Principal Engineer / Program Manager is responsible for the execution of one or more simultaneous products under development. Leads and provides technical expertise to multi-departmental product development projects. Overall accountability for all program(s) cost, schedule and performance. Reports team progress and recommendations on a regular basis. Manages Company portfolio of programs as it relates to product development. Works with departments to ensure needs are incorporated in the development plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (but are not limited to):

Project & Program Leadership

  • Own full-cycle development project plans and deliverables.
  • Track progress and milestones; develop recovery plans for deviations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to key stakeholders, providing timely updates on project milestones, risks, and progress.
  • Lead core team meetings, setting clear goals and documenting outcomes.
  • Apply appropriate project management techniques tailored to needs and risks.
  • Resolve cross-functional barriers and delegate tasks across the team.
  • Collaborate with functional managers to address resource constraints.

Technical Leadership & Execution

  • Serve as a hands-on technical resource throughout the project.
  • Perform investigational and early verification testing.
  • Evaluate and resolve project issues impacting manufacturability and reliability.
  • Engage with vendors for equipment, components, or services.
  • Knowledge in the utilization of rapid prototyping, machine shop tools, and molding/extrusion methods.

Team Development & Culture

  • Build and coordinate high-performing, collaborative teams.
  • Foster accountability and clarity through strong communication and planning.
  • Promote a team-first mindset aligned with organizational values.
  • Mentor through example—emphasizing diligence, analysis, and goal-setting.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Lead medical device product development as a technical lead or principal engineer
  • Manage a cross-functional team through the product development life-cycle
  • Serve as primary liaison to stakeholders, delivering timely updates regarding risks and milestones
  • Knowledge of QSR CFR 820, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and other applicable standards
