POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatic programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Directs and supervises swim lesson program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
2. Trains, develops, schedules and directs swim instructors and volunteers as needed.
3. Supports YMCA healthy eating and physical activities standards through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality
4. Conducts YUSA Swim Lesson Instructor trainings, and trains instructors at quarterly meetings.
5. Assists to create and schedule swim classes.
6. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
7. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
8. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
10. Assists with Program Committee meetings.
11. Compiles swim lesson statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. One to two year's related experience preferred; as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor.
2. Must be at least 21 years old
3. CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen and current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent within 30 days of hire.
4. Completion of YMCA Aquatic certifications.
5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
6. Completes Praesidium within 7 days of hire date.
7. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
2. Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
3. Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
4. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
5. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
6. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency

8. Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
9. Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.
