Swiftui Internship information

What is a SwiftUI internship?

A SwiftUI Internship is a temporary, entry-level role where interns gain hands-on experience in developing iOS applications using SwiftUI. Interns typically work on UI design, state management, and integrating with backend services while learning best practices in Swift programming. This role is ideal for students or beginner developers looking to enhance their skills in Apple's declarative UI framework.

What do I do in a SwiftUI internship?

During a SwiftUI Internship, you’ll typically work on real-world iOS application projects, assisting with designing and building user interfaces using SwiftUI under the guidance of senior developers. Responsibilities may include implementing new features, fixing bugs, writing unit tests, and participating in code reviews. You’ll often collaborate closely with designers, backend engineers, and other team members to ensure seamless integration and a polished user experience. This hands-on experience not only helps you develop technical and teamwork skills but also provides a strong foundation for future roles in iOS development.

What are the key skills and qualifications for a SwiftUI internship?

To succeed in a SwiftUI Internship, you should have a solid grasp of Swift programming, UI/UX principles, and basic iOS development, often demonstrated through coursework, personal projects, or an academic background in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with Xcode, Apple’s development tools, and version control systems like Git is essential, while certifications in iOS development can be advantageous. Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly are valuable soft skills. These competencies enable interns to contribute effectively, learn from mentorship, and help deliver user-friendly, efficient iOS applications.

Software Engineer, iOS/Mobile Build robust, real-time iOS flight-safety app features with scalable UI

Location: San Carlos, California

Compensation: $135,000 - 260,000 USD / year

About The Role iOS Software Engineer

We're a fast-moving team of aviators, engineers, and operators building an AI platform to make flying safer, more efficient, and more capable. Backed by top investors, we've secured a dozen Department of Defense contracts and partnered with major airlines to deliver mission-critical systems. We operate without silos or heavy processes. Small, focused teams own what they build, ship quickly, and learn fast, pushing the boundaries of how humans and AI work together in aviation.

We are seeking an iOS Software Engineer to join our mobile team and help build high-impact iOS applications that support our flight safety platform. In this role, you will work closely with senior engineers, designers, and product managers to develop user-facing features and contribute to production systems. You'll grow your iOS expertise while working on real-time, safety-critical applications that advance flight safety and operational efficiency.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement iOS features using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and modern iOS frameworks.
  • Work with senior engineers to build and maintain reliable, high-performance mobile applications.
  • Integrate with internal and external APIs to support real-time data and application functionality.
  • Collaborate with designers and product managers to deliver intuitive, user-friendly mobile experiences.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow established iOS best practices and architectural patterns.
  • Help ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability through testing and documentation.

What Will Make You Successful

  • 2+ years of experience developing iOS applications, or equivalent experience through internships, projects, or coursework.
  • Experience with Swift and SwiftUI, with some exposure to UIKit and common iOS frameworks.
  • Familiarity with asynchronous programming concepts such as async/await, multithreading, or GCD.
  • Basic experience working with networking, APIs, or real-world data sources.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn from feedback and mentorship.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.

Bonus Points

  • Passion for aviation and a desire to improve air travel efficiency and safety.
  • Exposure to mapping or spatial frameworks such as Mapbox or MapKit.
  • Interest in real-time data, sensors, or hardware-adjacent systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflows or cloud-backed mobile systems.

Work Location

This is a hybrid role based in San Carlos, CA, with 3+ days per week onsite and the option to work remotely on remaining days.
