Job description

Job Title: Swift Engineer / Consultant
Location: Quincy, MA (100% Onsite)
Duration: 6-12+ Months Contract (with possible extension)

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Swift Engineer with strong expertise in SWIFT payment gateway integration to support our banking and financial services client in Quincy, MA. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of financial messaging standards and hands-on experience with SWIFT MT/MX messages, payment processing, and integration with core banking or payment platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement secure and scalable solutions for SWIFT payment gateway integration
  • Handle SWIFT MT and MX messaging formats for cross-border payments and financial transactions
  • Ensure seamless integration with core banking/payment systems (e.g., Temenos, Finastra, or in-house systems)
  • Collaborate with business teams and analysts to translate payment processing requirements into technical solutions
  • Develop message parsing, validation, and routing logic using appropriate tools and frameworks
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve payment processing issues
  • Maintain detailed documentation and support compliance with financial regulations and standards

Must-Have Skills:

  • Overall IT Experience: 8-10+ Years
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on Swift payment systems
  • Strong understanding of SWIFT MT/MX standards, message types (MT103, MT202, etc.)
  • Proven experience with SWIFT gateway integration and APIs
  • Proficiency in Java/.NET or relevant programming languages used in payment systems
  • Experience in ISO 20022 messaging format and financial services compliance
  • Hands-on experience with payment routing, message transformation, and encryption/signing

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with SWIFT Alliance Access/Cloud/Light platforms
  • Knowledge of payment schemes such as SEPA, FEDWIRE, CHIPS
  • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and secure coding practices
  • Familiarity with real-time payment systems or blockchain-based payments
