Sveltekit information

What is SvelteKit?

SvelteKit is a modern framework for building web applications using Svelte, a reactive JavaScript library. It provides a robust set of tools for routing, server-side rendering, static site generation, and more, making it easy to create fast and scalable web apps. SvelteKit streamlines the development process by integrating features like TypeScript support, file-based routing, and seamless deployment options. It's designed to offer an optimized developer experience and improved performance for users.

What are the typical collaboration dynamics for a SvelteKit developer within a cross-functional team?

As a SvelteKit developer, you’ll often collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, backend engineers, and project managers to deliver seamless web applications. Daily responsibilities may include participating in stand-up meetings, integrating frontend components with APIs, and reviewing code with teammates to maintain quality standards. Clear communication and an understanding of the full development lifecycle are vital, as you’ll frequently need to translate design concepts into interactive user experiences while ensuring alignment with backend data flows. This collaborative environment offers valuable learning opportunities and exposure to a variety of technologies, supporting both professional growth and team cohesion.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a SvelteKit developer?

To thrive as a SvelteKit Developer, you need a strong grasp of JavaScript, TypeScript, modern web development principles, and a solid understanding of Svelte and SvelteKit frameworks. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, deployment tools, and RESTful APIs, as well as experience using build tools such as Vite or Rollup, is typically required. Standout soft skills include problem-solving, effective communication, and adaptability to rapidly changing technologies. These skills and qualities are crucial for building efficient, scalable web applications and collaborating effectively within development teams.

Job description

PRODUCT ENGINEER
New York, NY • Full-time • Hybrid (3+ days/week in office)
ABOUT GOVSIGNALS
GovSignals is the AI system of work for government contracting. It can take the government longer to buy a capability than an adversary takes to field one, and we exist to close that gap.
We're the only startup managing government contract data with AI in both FedRAMP High and DoW Impact Level 5 environments. Our platform monitors 5,000+ live government data sources, 100,000+ federal and state agencies, and 2,000,000+ government contracts in real time. Our customers range from small contractors to Fortune 500 primes with billions in annual awards, and our government work reaches mission critical contract management. In the past 18 months, we've earned FedRAMP High and IL5 authorizations, joined GSA MAS and the MDA SHIELD IDIQ, and signed some of the biggest names in government contracting.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're hiring multiple Product Engineers to expand our product engineering team. You'll work directly with the founding team and own entire customer-facing product areas end-to-end - from whiteboard to production.
The product is moving fast, and we need an engineer who can move faster. This is not a role where you sit in sprint planning for half the day and push tickets around a board, wait for detailed specs before writing code, or treat two-week sprints as the definition of fast. You'll plan, build, and ship features daily, own the reliability of what you ship - when something breaks at 9pm, you fix it because it's yours - and use AI pair-programming tools aggressively to multiply your output. This is a role for a builder who treats ambiguity as fuel, runs toward hard problems, ships under pressure, and measures their work in user impact, not lines of code.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Take ownership of high-impact product areas and ship customer-facing improvements daily - from whiteboard to production.
  • Rapidly iterate on UI, UX, and core application logic based on real user feedback and production data.
  • Decompose ambiguous product goals into clear engineering plans, execute them, and measure outcomes.
  • Use AI pair-programming tools to 5-10x your productivity, and push the team to do the same.
  • Monitor production metrics, troubleshoot issues in real time, own the reliability of what you ship, and contribute to the platform architecture decisions that define how the product scales.
  • Work closely with design, the founding team, customers, and CS to understand pain points, translate feedback into product decisions, and close the loop.

Our stack: TypeScript across the board - Svelte/SvelteKit on the frontend, Postgres on the backend, the AI SDK for model integration, deployed on Cloudflare Workers at the edge. We use Cursor and Claude Code, and expect you to as well.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 5+ years of full-stack engineering with a proven record of shipping customer-facing features end-to-end - real products to real users, not just features inside someone else's architecture.
  • Strong frontend TypeScript skills with modern frameworks (Svelte/SvelteKit strongly preferred; React/Next.js acceptable).
  • Hands-on Postgres and backend TypeScript experience - you've designed schemas, written migrations, and optimized queries.
  • Daily, fluent use of AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf) as a genuine multiplier, not a novelty.
  • Ability to decompose ambiguous problems into shippable increments and communicate tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, early-stage environment where priorities shift and you own the outcome, plus experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and production monitoring.

Nice to have: experience with the AI SDK (Vercel AI SDK or similar), AI-first UX patterns, RAG pipelines, or AI agent architectures; a background in government contracting, the military, or the intelligence community; experience in FedRAMP, IL, HIPAA, or other regulated environments; open-source work.
THE TEAM
GovSignals was founded by four cofounders who lived with this problem from both sides - selling to the government and serving inside it - with backgrounds across the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of Energy, Palantir, Amazon, federal contractors building for missiles, and state contractors building for prisons. You'll work directly with all four. The engineering team has shipped to defense companies, scaled venture-backed startups, and founded companies of their own.
HOW WE HIRE
  • Intro conversation (30 min) - your background and how you use AI tools.
  • Technical interview (1 hr) - coding and systems design, without AI tools.
  • Co-founder conversations (15 min) - meet the cofounders.
  • Work trial (1 day) - real work with the team.
  • Offer.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Base Salary: $180,000 - $250,000
  • Equity: Meaningful stake in a well-funded, fast-growing startup
  • Benefits: medical, vision, and dental, unlimited PTO
  • Brooklyn Navy Yard office, 3+ days a week in person. The Yard built ships for the Navy from 1801 to 1966, now we build systems for Navy program offices.

Due to the nature of our government work, this role is open only to U.S. citizens and other U.S. Persons. GovSignals is an equal opportunity employer.
