Sustaining Engineering Intern information

What do sustaining engineers do?

Sustaining engineers are responsible for maintaining, improving, and supporting existing products or systems after their initial development. They analyze product performance, troubleshoot issues, implement design changes, and ensure reliability and compliance, often using tools like CAD and testing equipment. Their work helps extend product lifespan and optimize functionality in a production environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Sustaining Engineering Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sustaining Engineering Intern, you typically need a strong background in engineering fundamentals, problem-solving abilities, and progress toward a relevant degree such as mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering. Familiarity with CAD software, failure analysis tools, and data management systems is often required. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and teamwork skills help interns collaborate with cross-functional teams and address technical challenges efficiently. These skills are crucial for maintaining product quality, resolving issues quickly, and supporting ongoing improvements in engineering processes.

What engineers make $500,000?

Senior engineers in fields such as software, petroleum, and aerospace engineering can reach or exceed $500,000 annually, often through a combination of base salary, bonuses, and stock options. These roles typically require extensive experience, advanced skills, and sometimes leadership responsibilities or specialized certifications.

Is $20 an hour good for an internship?

For a Sustaining Engineering Intern, $20 an hour is generally considered competitive for entry-level technical internships, especially if it includes benefits or opportunities for skill development. Intern wages vary by industry, location, and company, but this rate aligns with typical compensation for engineering internships in many regions. Factors such as workload, learning opportunities, and company reputation also influence the overall value of the internship.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Senior engineers in fields such as software, petroleum, and aerospace engineering can reach or exceed $300,000 annually, especially with experience, specialized skills, and bonuses. High-paying roles often require advanced certifications, leadership responsibilities, or working in high-demand industries like technology or energy.
