Position: Sustainability Associate (San Jose, CA) Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Sustainability Associate to support the day-to-day management and integrity of our greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and sustainability reporting systems

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional looking to build expertise in emissions data management, environmental compliance, and ESG reporting while gaining exposure to digital transformation initiatives, including AI-enabled workflow automation. The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, and eager to grow within the sustainability field by supporting regulatory compliance, data management, and continuous process improvement initiatives across a global organization. This is a W2 contract position and is not eligible for C2C or W2 referral candidates.

Key Responsibilities: GHG Inventory & Data Management Collect, validate, and consolidate Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions data. Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the organization's GHG inventory management system. Perform routine data quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews in accordance with internal inventory management procedures.

Maintain emissions factor libraries and update data structures to align with global standards, including the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064. Ensure emissions data remains compliant with evolving regional and international reporting requirements. Coordinate with internal stakeholders, global headquarters, subsidiaries, and third-party verification organizations to support emissions reporting and verification activities.

Regulatory Compliance & ESG Reporting Support the collection, organization, and validation of documentation required for environmental and ESG reporting. Assist with compliance efforts related to federal, state, and regional climate disclosure regulations, including California SB 253 and SB 261. Prepare supporting documentation and audit-ready evidence for sustainability reporting and external verification.

Sustainability & Continuous Improvement Research emerging sustainability regulations, ESG reporting frameworks, and industry best practices. Conduct market research and benchmarking to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement. Participate in initiatives focused on digital transformation, including AI-enabled tools, workflow automation, and data management solutions.

Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, quality, and consistency of sustainability data collection and reporting processes. Qualifications: Education Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Sustainability Management, or a related field required. Advanced degree is a plus.

Experience 0-3 years of experience in corporate sustainability, greenhouse gas accounting, ESG reporting, environmental compliance, or a related analytical role. Internship or co-op experience in sustainability or environmental data analysis is welcomed. Required Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.

Experience managing and analyzing large datasets while identifying discrepancies and data anomalies. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Ability to quickly learn and utilize enterprise data management and sustainability reporting systems.

Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional and global teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with greenhouse gas accounting methodologies, including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. Knowledge of the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064 standards. Exposure to ESG reporting requirements and climate disclosure regulations.
