Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Release Engineer to support the design, development, and release of vehicle wiring systems. This role works closely with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers to ensure power and signal distribution systems are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.

The ideal candidate is process-driven, collaborative, self-motivated, and enjoys working in a fast-paced product development environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide program-specific sourcing requirements and technical input during supplier reviews.
  • Develop initial wiring harness parts lists and perform system complexity studies.
  • Maintain program continuity by managing engineering changes, program timing, and Statement of Requirements (SOR) compliance.
  • Coordinate supplier activities throughout the engineering development process.
  • Participate in system interface discussions and help resolve integration issues.
  • Manage system cost, quality, mass, and performance metrics for power and signal distribution systems.
  • Support virtual and physical pre-production vehicle builds.
  • Ensure wiring system design and release activities are fully integrated into the overall vehicle architecture.
  • Lead Product Development Team (PDT) meetings to drive deliverables and program timing.
  • Support benchmarking activities, engineering trade studies, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Participate in Peer Reviews, Wire Harness Assessments, and vehicle launch support activities.
  • Perform engineering analysis and implement design changes as needed.
  • Define and balance system requirements.
  • Plan and execute validation and development testing.
  • Release production parts and subsystems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field (Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Design Release Engineer (DRE).
  • Experience with automotive product development.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems and engineering release processes.
  • Experience with wiring harnesses, electrical connectors, or vehicle electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of automotive engineering change management processes.
