What is a sushi assistant?

Sushi Assistants are entry-level kitchen staff who support sushi chefs in preparing and presenting sushi dishes. Their duties typically include cleaning and slicing fish, preparing rice, organizing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness in the workstation, and sometimes helping assemble basic sushi rolls. Sushi Assistants play a crucial role in ensuring efficient workflow in sushi restaurants by handling prep work and supporting the chefs. This position is a great way to learn the fundamentals of sushi making and gain experience in a Japanese kitchen environment.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a sushi assistant?

Teamwork is essential, as you’ll collaborate closely with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy meal periods.
