Survey Rodman / Survey Field Technician (Entry-Level) 


Location: Springfield, Missouri and surrounding areas 


Job Type: Full-Time 


Pay: $15.00–$22.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications) 


Typical Schedule: M-F, varying hours depending on schedules/work demand between 7am-5pm. Overtime rarely, when necessary, but not common.

What You'll Do 


As a Survey Rodman, you'll assist experienced survey professionals with collecting accurate field data and preparing project sites.  


Responsibilities include: 


  • Assist the Survey Crew Chief with daily field surveying operations. 
  • Set up, operate, and transport survey instruments and equipment. 
  • Hold survey rods, prisms, GPS equipment, and other survey tools during data collection. 
  • Place stakes, markers, hubs, and reference points according to project requirements. 
  • Clear brush and establish sight lines for survey measurements. 
  • Record field information and help maintain accurate project documentation. 
  • Load, unload, and care for survey equipment and company vehicles. 
  • Follow established safety procedures while working around roadways, construction sites, and active traffic. 
  • Work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions throughout the year. 
  • Support multiple survey crews as workload and project schedules require.

  • Walk several miles each day over uneven terrain. 
  • Lift and carry survey equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. 
  • Stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work on slopes or rough ground. 
  • Occasionally clear light vegetation to establish survey lines.
