Job description

Thew Associates PE-LS, PLLC is a land and hydrographic surveying and mapping firm headquartered in Canton, New York with branch offices in Marcy (Utica), Saranac Lake, and Syracuse, New York.

We are seeking highly motivated land surveyors in Monroe County, New York, to perform various surveying and mapping services to include topographic, boundary retracement, construction, hazardous waste site, and as-built surveying; hydrographic (multi- and single beam acoustic, ADCP, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiling, and sediment sampling); terrestrial laser scanning, and sUAS (drone) services.

The following education, experience, and skills are preferred:

  • preferred A.A.S. in Surveying Technology or B.S. in Surveying Engineering
  • preferred two years' experience performing field surveys
  • working knowledge of Trimble GPS/GNSS devices, Trimble robotic total stations, and Trimble data collection devices
  • experience performing static and RTK GPS/GNSS surveys
  • experience performing random traversing and differential leveling
  • experience performing document research, boundary line reconnaissance, and property line blazing
  • experience performing topographic surveys for engineering design ability to take clear and concise field notes with sketches
  • experience preparing mapping in an AutoCAD environment (preferably Civil 3D)
  • ability to travel and stay out-of-town on a frequent basis
  • valid driver's license
  • willingness to embrace and learn new technologies
In addition to the skills listed above, experience with the following technologies are highly desirable:

  • Proficient with Civil 3D (Release 2013 or higher)
  • Single- and/or multi-beam acoustic sonar with Hypack hydrographic surveying software
Candidates must possess strong math and computer skills and be proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Excel, and Microsoft Word; and be able to work independently.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
