Job Description:

Field Surveyor will lead or be part of a survey crew depending on experience and background. The field surveyor would work closely with Kokosing supervision to provide layouts for all facets of heavy civil construction. This position will be located onsite full-time at the New Lock at the Soo project, located in Sault Ste Marie, MI.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project Managers, Engineers, and other Team Members to coordinate surveying activities for the projects.
  • Knowledge of field survey engineering methods/techniques and survey/GPS instruments.
  • Understands and able to operate Trimble Total Stations and GPS equipment.
  • Be able to prioritize layout and do it in an efficient and timely manner
  • Provide input on surveying to satisfy the project's accuracy requirements
  • Communicate effectively explaining the layout provided
  • Comply with safety regulations, company standards, and government guidelines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience working as a surveyor, ideally on heavy civil construction projects.
  • Proficiency using surveying equipment including levels, robotic instruments, and GPS receivers
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills with willingness to learn and expand knowledge
  • Be willing to learn new surveying techniques
  • Must be able to climb ladders, work around traffic, and work in all types of weather conditions
  • Must be physically able to work in the field in various field conditions and travel across rough, uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
  • Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent
