Job description

Job Title: Survey Instrument Operator
Work Location: Atlanta, GA
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Candidates must be able to collect data using company standards for descriptions and line coding.
  • Assist Party Chief in running the field operations
  • Operates and maintains various surveying instruments, such as transits, level, theodolite, and electronic distance measuring equipment to measure and verify elevations, angles and distances.
  • Coordinates with office staff and clients as required.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal survey regulations as well as Accura Engineering procedures.
  • Monitors accurate completion of daily timesheets, reports, and vehicle inspections
  • Performs mathematical calculations to establish and locate reference points.
  • Interprets maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Cleans, checks and adjusts survey instruments to assure accuracy of measurements.
  • Oversees surveying activities in the absence of Survey Party Chief.
  • Perform related work as required.

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of utilizing data collectors, robotic and non-robotic total stations and GPS equipment.
  • 1+ years of experience in land surveying
  • Experience with GDOT
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable
  • Must be willing and able to travel as required for the role.
  • Willing to train the right candidate without the above noted experience
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Must be willing and able to travel as required for the role.

Physical Requirements:
  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.
