Job description

Surgical Technologist

Performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the Surgical Technologist will support system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. This individual will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined. Maintains accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria. Maintains the sterile field and ensures a safe environment. Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes. Prepares the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure. May assist with sterile processing. Assists the surgeon during the procedure while staying within the scope of practice. Can identify emergency situations and exercise judgment when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies. Assists with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure upon completion of a previous procedure.

Experience: 2 years of Surgical Tech experience, including 1 year of scrub experience with cardio focus. License: CO License (DORA) Required Certifications: NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist Required, BLS (AHA) Required Must-Have: Demonstrated ability to maintain a sterile field and ensure environmental safety. Knowledge of surgical services and sterile processing. Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations. Experience in surgeries support within the surgical team. Experience with life support situations related to surgical care. Experience in sterilization processes and requirements.
