Position Overview:

Our organization is proud to present a state-of-the-art facility that opened its doors in 2014. The Medical-Surgical Department features 13 beds and is linked to a 3-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). We maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4:1 during the day and 5:1 at night, with Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) available on all shifts. To ensure the safety of both patients and staff, we provide 24/7 security. Nurses typically work 12-hour shifts and are scheduled every third weekend. Being a smaller facility allows us to foster meaningful relationships with our patients.

Job Summary:

The role involves providing direct nursing care in alignment with the established policies, procedures, and protocols of our healthcare organization.

• Apply medical-surgical nursing standards to enhance patient care and quality of life by systematically assessing the effectiveness of nursing practices.
• Build effective relationships and advocate for patients and their families to create personalized care plans.
• Utilize the nursing process to formulate and execute care plans, gather assessment data, establish nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, implement interventions, and evaluate results.
• Develop management strategies that consider various dimensions of human responses to health issues, including physical, cultural, and social factors.
• Demonstrate understanding of how illnesses affect patients' overall status.
• Exhibit leadership by collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare teams to assess needs, set goals, plan interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
• Engage in effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure culturally sensitive and ethical care.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion, maintenance, and comfort measures.
• Promote a healthy work environment by mentoring nursing colleagues and students.
• Incorporate evidence-based practices into medical-surgical nursing to meet age-specific and clinical needs.
• Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
• May conduct point-of-care testing as per established protocols.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.

Experience:

• No prior experience necessary.

• Regularly use speech for effective communication.
• Frequent standing and walking.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly engage in sitting, reaching, and data entry.
• Frequent visual acuity for near and far distances, including color differentiation.
• Regularly use smell for odor detection.
• Frequent hearing for communication and monitoring alarms.
• Occasional driving and other physical activities.
