Unit Overview

Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper - South Jersey's only acute-care children's hospital - provides advanced diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for children with surgical needs. From premature infants with congenital birth defects to adolescents needing trauma care, our pediatric surgery team delivers expert solutions with a compassionate, kid-friendly approach.

Our team is dedicated to delivering specialized care to families throughout the region. Our skilled surgeons and caring, kid-friendly approach to every child we care for sets our pediatric surgery team apart. 

Children's Regional offers pediatric surgical care 24/7, with same-day surgery available at our main hospital in Camden. As the only Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in South Jersey offering pediatric surgical services, we are equipped and skilled to respond quickly when urgent care is needed.

Cooper treats a wide range conditions, including hernia repair, appendix removal, inflammatory bowel disease, and gastrointestinal reflux disease, among others so children receive the care they need while staying close to home.

Short Description

The Pediatric Surgeon provides advanced surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents across a broad range of complex and routine pediatric conditions.

This role supports Cooper University Health Care's mission of delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing clinical excellence, multidisciplinary collaboration, and academic medicine within the Children's Regional Hospital.

Education Requirements
  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Active New Jersey medical license
  • Completion of an accredited pediatric surgery training program
  • Innovative spirit in the clinical setting, superior teamwork with interdisciplinary collaborative approach, desire to work with underserved populations
Experience Required
  • Fully support the academic, clinical, and educational missions of our program including creating scholarly work, improving quality metrics, and creating a positive learning environment
  • Display the communication, and interpersonal skills required to build an active clinical practice, develop areas of productive scholarship, and recruit additional faculty
  • Significantly influence the direction of our program, and join like-minded faculty committed to our mission of being at the cutting edge of Pediatric Surgery!
License/Certification Requirements

NJ medical license, board certification in Pediatric surgery
