Job description

JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the OR and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations. Functions as an RN first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures and throughout the perioperative continuum in accordance with scope of practice credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification. At times is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the OR in the role of an RN circulator.


MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate from a school of nursing. Completion of an AORN-RN First Assistant program, which includes didactic and clinical components.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two years perioperative RN or RNFA experience. If working in the CVOR, minimum experience of three years as an RN or Surgical Tech in the CVOR.


ADDITIONAL REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.


MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: RN First Assistant certification (CRNFA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, depending on patient population
