Surgery Plus information

What is a Surgery Plus?

A Surgery Plus job typically refers to roles within SurgeryPlus, a supplemental surgical benefits program offered by employers. These positions may involve coordinating patient care, managing provider networks, or assisting with administrative tasks related to surgical procedures. Employees in these roles help ensure that patients receive high-quality, cost-effective medical care through a vetted network of surgeons.

What does a Surgery Plus do?

A typical day for a Surgery Plus professional involves preparing operating rooms, assisting surgeons during procedures, ensuring that all instruments and equipment are sterile, and supporting post-operative patient care. The role often requires close collaboration with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia teams, and other healthcare staff to provide comprehensive perioperative care. You may also be responsible for maintaining detailed surgical records and responding quickly to any intraoperative complications. This dynamic environment requires adaptability, precision, and excellent coordination to ensure each procedure runs smoothly and safely.

What skills and qualifications are needed for Surgery Plus?

To excel in a Surgery Plus role, candidates generally need a strong background in surgical assisting, operating room procedures, and patient care, often supported by relevant certifications such as CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or equivalent healthcare qualifications. Familiarity with surgical instruments, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and sterilization protocols is typically required. Strong teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication help build trust and ensure seamless operations in high-pressure surgical environments. These skills are crucial to deliver optimal patient outcomes, minimize surgical risks, and efficiently collaborate with multidisciplinary medical teams.
