Position Overview

As a Safety Trainer, you will play a critical role in developing, delivering, and continuously improving safety training programs that support Kiewit's commitment that Nobody Gets Hurt. This position will focus on MSHA-regulated projects and industrial construction operations, ensuring employees and craft professionals receive high-quality training that meets regulatory requirements and prepares them to work safely in dynamic construction environments.
The ideal candidate will possess MSHA Surface Instructor experience and demonstrated success delivering New Miner, Experienced Miner, and Annual Refresher training programs. This individual will partner closely with project teams, safety professionals, and operations leadership to promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement across Kiewit's industrial operations.

Location
This position can begin in Bagdad, Arizona.
Candidates must be open to relocation based on project needs, skill development, and career growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver MSHA Part 46 and Part 48 Surface Miner training programs, including New Miner, Experienced Miner, Site-Specific Hazard Awareness, Task Training, and Annual Refresher training.
  • Facilitate classroom, field-based, and hands-on safety training for craft professionals, supervisors, and project personnel.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, presentations, lesson plans, and training records in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Partner with project safety teams to identify training needs and implement solutions to address site-specific hazards and operational risks.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, field observations, audits, and employee feedback.Assist with project onboarding, orientation programs, and workforce mobilization efforts.
  • Support incident investigations by identifying training gaps and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices and incorporate them into training programs.Promote Kiewit's "Nobody Gets Hurt" culture and reinforce safe work practices across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience serving as an MSHA Surface Instructor.
  • Experience delivering MSHA Part 46 and/or Part 48 training programs.
  • Strong knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and industrial construction safety regulations.
  • Experience facilitating instructor-led classroom and field training.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel and work in active industrial construction environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Education, or a related field.
  • MSHA Approved Instructor certification for Part 48 Surface Metal/Nonmetal operations.
  • Experience delivering New Miner, Experienced Miner, and Annual Refresher training programs.
  • CHST, OHST, CSP, or other professional safety certifications.
  • Construction, mining, industrial manufacturing, power, or heavy industrial project experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
