Underwriter - Contract Surety

Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Underwriter specializing in Contract Surety to join a team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a book of business within a designated territory, develop strategic marketing plans, and contribute to the growth of the organization.

Compensation Package
  • Competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $125,000 annually + bonus opportunities

Responsibilities
  • Manage profit and loss for a book of business within the assigned territory.
  • Develop and execute marketing plans to attract new business by targeting key brokers, arranging meetings, and attending industry events.
  • Perform underwriting functions, including financial analysis, account analysis, and industry analysis, while adhering to underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
  • Serve as a resource on underwriting and territory-related issues for team members across the country.
  • Travel as needed to meet with agents, contractors, and attend surety-related events within the assigned territory.
  • Lead special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, risk management, business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Contract Surety underwriting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply strategic perspectives to underwriting processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and meet objectives.
  • Experience in presenting findings and recommendations to management.
