Supportive Living Assistant information

What is a supportive living assistant?

Supportive Living Assistants are professionals who help individuals with disabilities, elderly people, or those recovering from illness or injury to live as independently as possible. They assist with daily activities such as personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and light housekeeping. Supportive Living Assistants also provide companionship, encourage social participation, and may help with transportation or errands. Their goal is to promote dignity, autonomy, and quality of life for the people they support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a supportive living assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Supportive Living Assistant, you need a foundational knowledge of personal care, basic healthcare practices, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with care planning systems, electronic documentation tools, and sometimes CPR or first aid certification is typically required. Compassion, patience, effective communication, and strong problem-solving skills make someone stand out in this role. These skills and qualities are vital for ensuring the well-being, dignity, and safety of residents while fostering an environment of trust and support.

What are some common challenges faced by supportive living assistants, and how are they typically addressed?

Supportive Living Assistants often encounter challenges such as managing the diverse needs and abilities of residents, handling emotional or behavioral issues, and balancing multiple responsibilities during their shifts. These challenges are typically addressed through ongoing training, strong communication with team members, and access to support from supervisors. Many organizations also promote regular team meetings and encourage a collaborative environment, ensuring that assistants have the resources and guidance needed to provide high-quality care while maintaining their own well-being.

You will operate within a supportive, collaborative remote work setting that encourages flexibility and work-life balance. Our outpatient offices provide a modern and welcoming environment for sessions when in-person appointments are necessary. As a member of our clinical team, you will receive full administrative support, allowing you to focus on what you do bestโ€”helping individuals and families achieve their therapeutic goals.

Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough assessments of couples and individual clients, identifying areas of concern and developing tailored treatment plans.
  • Facilitating therapy sessions with couples, as well as seeing individuals to address specific issues related to marriage and family dynamics.
  • Addressing a wide range of challenges such as alcohol abuse, grief and loss, conflicts among family members, job stress, and issues stemming from blended families.
  • Utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, to assist clients in navigating their challenges.
  • Documenting client progress effectively and adjusting treatment plans accordingly to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals within the organization to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work closely with diverse populations, including adults, adolescents, and families grappling with a variety of issues. In particular, your expertise will benefit clients facing challenges such as:

  • Adjustment issues related to separation and divorce
  • Mother/daughter conflicts and communication difficulties
  • Managing stress due to medical issues or job-related pressures
  • Emotional struggles stemming from personal or familial conflicts
Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field.
  • An active LMFT license in the state of Texas.
  • A passion for patient care and a commitment to delivering clinical excellence.
Preferred Experience

We prefer candidates who have experience in providing therapy in a formal setting, particularly with therapeutic methodologies suited for families and couples. Additionally, familiarity with telehealth platforms will be beneficial as we provide both in-person and telemedicine options for our clients.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $100,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. In addition to this, our compensation package includes:

  • A generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision insurance, and life insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match to support your future planning.
  • Paid parental leave, holidays, and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP).
  • Modern office facilities equipped with the latest technology, enhancing your therapeutic practice.
  • Unlimited earning potential through competitive incentive structures.
  • A supportive, collegial work environment that values collaboration and professional development.
  • A sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
