The OR Support Aide is responsible for assisting the surgical team in providing a safe and clean environment for patients undergoing surgery. Transports patients to and from the surgical suite.  Identifies patient and receives instructions from unit personnel when receiving the patient.  Observes and watches patient at all times, providing a safe environment through care and handling.  Notifies necessary personnel of patient's arrival in Operating Room, to ensure continuity of care and proper identification and observation.  Assists in maintenance, care and cleanliness of supplies and equipment.  Maintains equipment and cleanliness of anesthesia equipment as directed.  Cleans rooms according to procedure.  Maintains a supply of clean linen and blankets for each room.  Assists in providing necessary supplies and equipment before, during and after operative procedure.  Assists in preparing of surgical site by supporting limbs during preparation and the application of casts and dressing.  Maintains, cares for, and delivers all specimens as directed, to prevent loss or damage.  Shaves and prepares patients, if needed, according to procedure.  Maintains  effective  communication  with  nurses,  other  unit  staff, patients  and  families,  also with personnel from other departments. Position is both at the Andrus and Dobbs Ferry Pavilions.


High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous Operating Room experience preferred.
