Meijer offers an 11-week internship program that challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business. Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. What you will be doing as a Supply Chain Planning and Network Planning Intern:  

This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience across Meijer’s Supply Chain organization and may lead to consideration for future full-time opportunities, including the Meijer Supply Chain Rotational Program.  

As a Supply Chain Planning & Network Planning Intern, you will work on projects focused on improving how products flow through Meijer’s end-to-end supply chain. Interns may support initiatives related to inventory planning, supply chain strategy, network optimization, product flow, capacity utilization, and operational efficiency. Through data analysis, business problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration, interns will develop recommendations that improve service, inventory performance, and total supply chain cost.  

Depending on the assigned team and business need, interns may focus more specifically on supply chain planning or network planning while gaining exposure to both areas.  

Past internship projects have included: 

  • Evaluating inventory strategies and weeks of supply (WOS) targets to improve product availability while reducing excess inventory.  

  • Analyzing product flow through Meijer’s distribution network and identifying opportunities to improve service levels and reduce costs.  

  • Assessing network design and distribution strategies to support product freshness, capacity utilization, and operational efficiency.  

  • Developing Power BI dashboards and analytical tools to improve visibility into inventory, supply flow, and network performance.  

  • Supporting cross-functional initiatives involving Supply Chain, Merchandising, Distribution, and Logistics teams.  

The intern may also get exposure to other activities of the function, including:  

  • Supply Chain Planning 

  • Supply Chain Network Planning 

  • Manufacturing  

  • Distribution 

  • Logistics 

  • Merchandising 

  • Merchandising Services 

  • Store Operations 

  • Supply Chain IT 

 Qualifications

  • Progress toward a Bachelor's degree in: Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Statistics, Logistics, Operations Management, or Engineering. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 

  • Analytics skills – familiarity with analytical tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar platforms is preferred. 

  • Drive for results - has focus on the bottom line. 

  • Customer focus - dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers. 

  • Relationship Skills - can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, and leadership. 

  • Communication Skills - conveys the right information in writing and verbally. 

  • Problem Solving – Curiosity to research and look beyond the obvious to assemble and interpret data.
