About This Opportunity

Superior Rigging & Erecting is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support our Steel Division in Orlando, Florida.


This position will work closely with project managers, field leadership, customers, subcontractors, fabricators, and suppliers to coordinate structural steel projects from planning through completion.


The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.


Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, documentation, and execution of structural steel projects.


This position assists with project schedules, submittals, requests for information, material tracking, cost documentation, change management, and communication between office and field teams.


The role requires strong follow-through, attention to detail, and the ability to support the safe, timely, and efficient completion of assigned projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers with the daily coordination and administration of structural steel projects
  • Review project drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and related documentation
  • Prepare, submit, track, and maintain submittals, requests for information, change documentation, and project correspondence
  • Coordinate with field supervision, general contractors, subcontractors, fabricators, suppliers, and internal departments
  • Track material fabrication, deliveries, equipment needs, and project milestones
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of project schedules
  • Identify potential delays, conflicts, or coordination issues and communicate them to project leadership
  • Maintain accurate project files, logs, meeting notes, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with purchase orders, subcontractor documentation, invoices, commitments, and project cost tracking
  • Support the identification, pricing, documentation, and tracking of changes in project scope
  • Participating in project meetings and communicating action items to the appropriate team members
  • Assist with project forecasting, progress reporting, and status updates
  • Support project closeout, including punch-list items, turnover documents, warranties, and final records
  • Maintain effective communication between project management and field operations
  • Promote compliance with company safety policies, project requirements, and applicable regulations
  • Perform other project-related responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
  • One or more years of experience in construction, project coordination, engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Experience with structural steel, steel erection, fabrication, or commercial construction preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents
  • Understanding of construction project documentation, including submittals, requests for information, change orders, and schedules
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with project managers, field personnel, customers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with construction management, scheduling, or document-control software preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field preferred relevant construction experience may be considered in place of a degree
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project locations as required
