Job description

Service Director / Service Manager (GM Experience Required)

Sunset Chevrolet – Sarasota, Florida

If you're an experienced GM Service Manager or Service Director looking for a stable, long-term home with a respected local organization, we'd like to speak with you.

Sunset Chevrolet is part of the Sunset Automotive Group, a family-owned dealership group that has served Sarasota and Manatee counties since 1979. While many dealerships have been acquired by large corporate groups, we remain locally owned and operated, deeply rooted in the community, and committed to our employees.

We're proud to be considered one of the top dealership groups to work for in the area, with a leadership team known for longevity, consistency, and a strong, team-first culture. Many of our managers have been here for over a decade - some for more than 30 years.

We are seeking a proven GM service leader who can step into an established operation, lead an experienced team, and continue building on a strong foundation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who values stability, support, and a professional environment - while still enjoying the challenge of maintaining and improving performance in a busy service department.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of a high-volume service department
• Lead and support a seasoned team of advisors, technicians, and support staff
• Maintain strong performance in CSI, efficiency, and overall department profitability
• Ensure compliance with GM standards, systems, and warranty processes
• Foster a positive, accountable, and respectful team environment
• Monitor KPIs and make thoughtful, data-driven adjustments as needed
• Work collaboratively with dealership leadership and other departments
• Handle customer concerns with professionalism and a solutions-oriented approach

What We're Looking For

Current or recent Service Manager / Service Director experience within a GM dealership (required)
• Strong understanding of GM systems, warranty administration, and fixed ops performance metrics
• A steady, professional leader who builds trust and earns respect from their team
• Proven ability to maintain and improve department performance
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
• A team-oriented mindset with a commitment to long-term success

Why Sunset Chevrolet

Family-owned and locally operated since 1979 - not a corporate environment
• One of the most stable and respected dealership groups in the region
• A workplace where people build long-term careers, not just short-term roles
• Established team with strong tenure and internal support
• Leadership that values consistency, professionalism, and doing things the right way
Competitive compensation with performance incentives
• Full benefits package including:
– Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
– 401(k) retirement plan
– Paid time off
– Company-paid training
– Employee discounts across all Sunset locations
• Located in Sarasota, Florida - no state income tax and an exceptional quality of life

This Role Is Ideal For Someone Who

• Values stability, structure, and long-term opportunity
• Takes pride in leading a strong team and maintaining high standards
• Is looking for a professional environment with support and consistency
• Enjoys the challenge of keeping a successful operation performing at a high level

If you're an experienced GM service leader looking for a place where you can make a meaningful impact while being part of a well-established, respected organization, we encourage you to apply and start a conversation with Sunset Chevrolet.
