Schedule Details/Additional Information:

  • .75 FTE

  • Rotating weekly schedule Monday through Friday with staggered start times that vary from 0515-1800. Staff works staggered times based on case load. The shift length will vary based on the day, could range from 3-10 hours per day. This department requires flexibility to work with the cases/schedule.

  • Will be required to float to Summit for GI and Eye cases a few times a month.

  • No holiday. No weekend. No call.

  • Previous procedural experience (OR, Day Surgery, PACU/Pre/Post) experience is highly preferred. May consider ICU or ED experiences.

Where You Will Work:

The Waukesha Ambulatory Surgery Center is an outpatient surgical setting serving patients ages 16 and older, with 13 pre/post-op rooms, 4 operating rooms, and 1 GI suite. Our Surgery Center administers Local and Monitored Anesthesia Care in Pre/post. We do Ortho (scopes, shoulders, ankles, hands, no total joints/no spine), Podiatry, Cataracts(and other eye cases), Pain, Plastics, and ENT. We can also do general surgery cases but they are smaller.The department operates Monday through Friday with no weekends or holidays, using staggered day-shift hours based on daily patient volume. Staffing and schedules are flexible and may change depending on patient care needs, with occasional low census opportunities. The culture is patient-centered, supportive, collaborative, and open to feedback, and the team welcomes shadowing to help ensure the role is a strong fit. Employees are required to wear facility-provided scrubs and may float to Summit Hospital for GI and cataract procedures. Flexibility is key for this department.

We're Looking For:

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association or within 6 months.

  • Previous procedural experience(OR, Day Surgery, PACU/Pre/Post) experience is preferred.

  • As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.

Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.Physical Abilities Testing may be required.Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
