TITLE: After-School/Summer School Lead Teacher/Site Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Education, Federal Programs Director, 21st Century Grant Project Director and other designated supervisor 

JOB GOALS: To provide students with academic skills necessary to function in daily living, for achieving success on state and national achievement tests, and to serve as a foundation for learning at the next grade level. Plan site activities to include remediation and enrichment activities, distribution and collection of all required documentation to include sign-in, sign-out, timesheets, attendance records, etc. Responsible for providing data analyst with all site documentation for data entry.

School Context and Organization

Mission and Goal

1. Works with the Project Director and other administration to articulate and promote the project vision of learning and teaching.
2. Sets and accomplishes goals and objectives consistent with the project vision, mission, and goal.
3. Uses student data to identify instructional needs and displays it in the classroom or other designated areas.
4. Organizes daily and monthly plans to facilitate learning and teaching in the after school and summer school programs..
5. Communicates high expectations to students and parents/guardians for learning.
6. Follows established procedures in the Mississippi Public School Accountability Standards

and other applicable federal and state regulations.

1. Follows district and project policies applicable to the operation as established by the Board of Education.
2. Performs any other tasks as required by the Superintendent of Education or immediate supervisor.
3. Reviews, signs, and follows job description.
4. Submits daily, weekly, and other reports to the Federal Programs Director, Project Director or designee on progress made in meeting project goals.
5. Dresses in an appropriate and professional manner.
6. Arrives on time and remains until the designated time to leave for all assignments
7. Complies with school and project policies, State Department of Education regulations, School Board policies, and supports the school system.
8. Attends all meetings, workshops, and in-service training programs required by the project or district.
9. Demonstrates professional behavior at all times with the community, administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
10. Seeks professional development activities to address personal professional growth.

Student Discipline

1. Follows district policies when administering student discipline for students with and without disabilities (Discipline Ladder, corporal punishment, suspensions, expulsions, etc.).
2. Maintains appropriate and timely communication with administration concerning disciplinary referrals and/or actions (Parent Conferences, telephone calls, etc.).
3. Maintains accurate and organized records for student discipline (Discipline Ladder, student files, discipline reports, actions, parent conferences, IEP meetings, etc.).

Supervision

1. Implements the established schoolwide security plan (Crisis management, fire, bus, testing, daily routines, extra-curricular, etc.).
2. Provides continuous supervision of students (classrooms, buses, recess, halls, extracurricular, etc.).

Communication

1. Uses appropriate grammar and syntax (verbal and written).
2. Communicates pertinent information from meetings, conferences, and other sources in a timely and accurate manner (Staff meetings, professional development opportunities, memos, etc.).
3. Provides a written organized monthly calendar for communicating with the Project direcor's office, faculty, and parents as required.
4. Provides input into the decision-making process where appropriate.
5. Communicates project goals throughout the duration of the grant (clubs, newsletters, etc.).

Management of Educational Resources

1. Attends to routine tasks during initial minutes of class.

16. Recognizes students for proven student achievement and consistent student attendance.
17. Complies with plan of improvement requirements to receive professional development (mentoring, coaching, in-class modeling, classroom observations) when analysis of common test data and State assessment (MAAP, MKAS etc.) scores show that on-going quality instruction is not taking place.
18. Receives a termination letter if improvement is not shown based on plans of improvement.
19. Reports to work regularly.

Curriculum and Instruction

Curriculum

1. Participates in meetings to align the curriculum vertically and horizontally in core subjects.
2. Utilizes and references district and/or state mandated competencies, objectives, and/or benchmarks, (uses curriculum in lesson plans and has copies on file), frameworks, core standards, and pacing guides.
3. Reviews and revises pacing guides.
4. Leads cross grade, departmental, and grade level planning meetings to coordinate lessons, monitor students, and share information.
5. Creates weekly lesson plans with all requirements.
6. Documents mastery/non-mastery of core objectives weekly to identify deficiencies in the instructional program and submits to the project director.
7. Documents and reports to the project directort completion of any progress on state benchmarks, blueprints, and writing rubrics.
8. Uses a variety of effective teaching procedures, materials/media, and assessments appropriate for learners.
9. Provides on-site mentoring and professional development for TWW teachers.

Instruction

1. Aligns all instructional material to state benchmarks, blueprints, rubrics, and assessments.
2. Delivers instruction connecting state benchmarks, blueprints, teaching strategies, student interventions, and other state supporting materials to the student performance requirements of the state assessment program.
3. Shows evidence of student achievement (grade proficiency) and growth based on the Mississippi  

Assessment System formative and summative assessments annually.

1. Provides guided practice, remediation, and enrichment activities for students.
2. Uses interest approach to introduce lesson.
3. Motivates students with the purpose and importance of the lesson.
4. Provides instruction appropriate for the level of the learner.
5. Presents lesson in an appropriate scope and sequence.
6. Provides learners with appropriate practice on lesson content.
7. Adjusts instruction / re-teaches as necessary.
8. Provides appropriate lesson closure.

Student Achievement

1. Links state assessments to classroom instruction.
2. Uses a variety of evaluation methods.
3. Provides appropriate evaluation feedback to student, parents, and administrators in a timely manner.
4. Maintains records of student performance (grade books, progress reports, rubrics, benchmarks, etc.).
5. Shows evidence of student achievement and growth based on the Mississippi Assessment Program, Subject Area Testing, Formative and Summative Assessment annually.
6. Writes and incorporates test items that mimic the format and level of difficulty of state test items on a daily and weekly basis.
7. Utilizes state writing rubrics to evaluate progress on written assignments.
8. Administers and reports progress on state practice tests as required.
9. Reports student progress toward mastery of state required benchmark items as assessed through the state assessment program to the principal each nine week period.
10. Makes changes in the curriculum and instructional program based upon evaluation of student achievement data (Subject Area Testing, Mississippi Assessment Program, Formative and Summative Assessments).
11. Plans and provides interventions based upon program needs (Promotion/Retention Rates, Progress Reports, Report Cards, Child Find, Dropout Rate, Subject Area Tests, Mississippi Assessment Program, Formative and Summative Assessments).
12. Maintains achievement levels of students scoring at all levels on state, formative, and summative assessments.
13. Moves students into the next level of proficiency as measured by state, formative, and summative assessments.
14. Uses a data disaggregation tool to track the progress of students each week.
15. Uses a test item bank to develop and use assessment items aligned with local, state, and national standards.

Family and Community Involvement

1. Communicates project goals periodically throughout the duration of the grant.
2. Listens effectively to the ideas, grievances, and complaints of parents and make a reasonable effort to resolve such issues.
3. Informs the community about project goals.
4. Attends Title I meetings.
5. Provides informational sessions to inform parents, community, and school board members of rigorous academic standards that students must meet and school reform efforts including the state's academic content and achievement standards and results of state assessments.
6. Informs parents through letters and other advertisements, etc. of their right to be involved in sharing their input in school planning and reform efforts.
7. Provides workshops on how to monitor their child's progress and assist with homework using assistance from parent groups.
8. Schedules meetings and programs at a variety of times to facilitate parental involvement.

Professional Development

1. Plans, leads, and implements professional development training to develop skills to ensure that the method of teacher delivery and instruction is effective.
2. Provides job-embedded professional activities based on identified staff needs that include coaching, mentoring, in-class modeling, classroom observations).
